Breathy Advertorial

I taped my mouth for 30 nights. Here's what changed

Not my lungs and not my life. Mostly my mornings. An honest month of mouth tape, written by a paid Breathy ambassador.

Breathy Black Mouth Tape

I'd heard about mouth taping for a while before I tried it, and I'll be honest: taping my mouth shut sounded worse than the problem. The problem was simple. I'd wake up with a dry mouth, reach for water before anything else, and feel like I'd slept less than I had.

So I tried it for 30 nights. This is what I noticed, what I didn't, and what I'd tell a friend before they start.

1

The dry mouth was the first thing I noticed

The earliest change wasn't my sleep, it was the morning. Waking up without that dry, stale mouth was the first sign something had shifted overnight.

That makes sense once you know how the tape works. It holds your lips lightly together, so mouth breathing isn't the easy option while you sleep. It's a behavioural nudge, not a device.

2

Snoring: what I can and can't tell you

I get asked about snoring more than anything. Here's my honest answer: mouth tape isn't a snoring treatment, and I'm not going to promise it will make your nights quieter.

If you snore loudly, stop breathing or wake up gasping, that's a conversation for your GP, not a strip of tape.

3

Waking up tired

I didn't wake up a new person. What changed was smaller: fewer mornings where I felt like I'd spent the night breathing through my mouth. Some weeks were better than others.

Breathy put it plainly on the product page, and I agree: it changes what you do at night, not your physiology.

How I started: strip first, then tape

Night one felt strange. A few nights in, I'd stopped noticing it. Breathy say most people stop noticing it within a few nights, and that it takes about a month for nose breathing to feel like the default.

  • Clean, dry skin around the lips.
  • Nasal strip first. Check you're breathing comfortably through your nose.
  • Then the tape, pressed on vertically over the centre of your mouth.
  • Start with short sessions if it feels odd, and peel it off gently in the morning. Warm water helps if you have a beard.

5

What it is not

It's not a treatment or a fix. It's not for anyone who can't breathe comfortably through their nose. It doesn't replace a conversation with your doctor if you think something is wrong with your sleep.

And it's not a seal. The strip only covers the centre of the lips, so you can speak, cough or open your mouth at any point.

It's a behavioural nudge, not a device.

Can't believe the difference 2 pieces of very clever fabric make! The quality of my sleep has noticeably improved and I'm feeling much better about my energy level during the day. Highly recommend!

Is mouth tape safe?

For healthy adults who already breathe comfortably through their nose. It's drug-free, latex-free and dermatologically tested. Remove it straight away if you feel any breathing difficulty, discomfort or anxiety.

Can I still open my mouth?

Yes. The strip covers the centre of the lips only, so you can speak, cough or open your mouth at any point.

Will it hurt if I have a beard?

Soften it with warm water first and peel slowly, and it comes away without pulling.

How long before it feels normal?

Give it a few nights to stop noticing it's there, and about a month for nose breathing to feel like the default.

Can I use it with nasal strips?

Yes. Strip on first, check you're breathing comfortably through your nose, then the tape.

When does the 30% come off?

At checkout, automatically. You don't need a code: the extra 30% comes off when you reach the payment page.
